National Grid Circuit Breakers
Over the years we have been engaged by National Grid to provide assistance with the assessment of current circuit breakers. Millward have been responsible for renewing and assessing existing concrete structures suitability and conditions for support of proposed replacement circuit breakers with dimensional checks.
National Grid – Civil Asset Surveys
Millward have been responsible for carrying out civil asset surveys on a multitude of National Grid sites. Services included visiting site to carry out a visual structural inspection of the concrete and steel structures, preparation of our reports categorising defects and proposed remedial works.
Substation works for National Grid, Fleet, Hampshire
Millward were appointed by the National Grid Plc as structural surveyors of a weather damaged substation in Fleet, Hampshire.
National Grid – Thorpe Marsh
Over the last twenty years Millward have been involved with a multitude of projects at Thorpe Marsh. These have included relocation of oil management unit, refurbishment of pre-cast concrete industrial buildings, various new workshops, mezzanine floors and new offices.

Millward were appointed by the UK’s leading developer of gasification technology for Energy from Waste (EfW), Chinook Urban Mining Ltd as civil and structural engineers.
Energy from Waste, IES, Birmingham
A new Energy from Waste treatment plant for the European Metal Recycling and Innovative Environmental Solutions UK Ltd Environmental Solutions.
Drax Power Station – Biomass
Millward have worked with the Spencer Group in Hull for over 12 years and another signifcant scheme we were involved in with them was our structural engineering input for the build of a new biomass unloading and storage facility at Drax Power Station.
Cryfield Energy Centre, Coventry
Millward were appointed to provide engineering design works for the new heat and power plant installation located on the Cryfield campus, University of Warwick.
Wastecycle – Waste Transfer Station, Leicester
Millward were involved in Wastecycle’s site at Wesley Street, Leicester.
Whetstone Transfer Station, Leicester
Millward were appointed to carry out the civil and structural engineering designs for the development of the waste transfer station site in Whetstone, Leicestershire which was built for Leicester County Council.
Port of Tyne – Wood Pellet Facilities
Millward were appointed by the Spencer Group from Hull to assist with the 3 silos project for wood pellet facilities at the Port of Tyne.
Plot C, Ivanhoe Business Park, Ashby de la Zouch
A new 32,000 sq ft warehouse included 3,500 sq ft offices, a service yard with dock levellers and a staff car park for an international logistics group.
Warehouse Extension, Nottingham
A new warehouse and workshop for Midland Fixings Group, built adjacent to the client’s existing facility.
Devonport Dock, Plymouth
Millward were appointed to provide design works at the Devonport Docks in Plymouth.
Dutch Science Facility, Rothera
Millward were appointed by William Twigg Ltd to undertake the Structural Engineering design for this New Science Facility in Rothera Antarctic.
Ardingly Quarry, Haywards Heath
Millward provided civil design services for the construction of a new asphalt plant.
Forestwood Quarry, South Wales
Millward were appointed to carry out the civil works design associated with the Aggregate Processing plant comprising Primary Crusher, Screen House, Washing Section, Transfer House, Conveyor gantries and associated supports.
Victoria Deep Water, Bay Wharf
Millward were appointed by Hanson Quarry Products Europe Ltd as civil and structural engineers on the development of a new access roadway at the Victoria Deep Water Terminal, Bay Wharf.
Les Verdes Quarry, Guernsey
Millward were appointed as Structural Engineers to provide the design to the various plant support structures. These included the Screen House, Primary and Secondary Crusher, Washing Section, Transfer House and associated gravity take up conveyor trestle support/gantry conveyors.
